Today...
In a minute, it will be September 11, 2006, five years since the The Towers fell, the Pentagon burned, and a field in Pennsylvania swallowed whole an airplane full of people...
Tell us where you were, what you were doing, what you thought...
And let's try to keep it civil and non-political...remember how we were then...not the mess we can and often do make it now...

I was rushing to meet my commuter train when I got the news that the first plane hit. The train was a few minutes late, so we were all gathered around the catering truck listening to the catering guys radio when the second plane hit, and then the third into the Pentagon. I remember shock and then anger. How could we, the most advanced (technically) country in the world, not have known this was going to happen? I mostly remember the anger. My oldest son had just joined the Air Force and was in tech school (something that was in large part my idea) and I remember feeling guilty that I may have talked him into something far more dangerous than I could have imagined. Who could have known?
