A Shout Out...
Here recently I have been preoccupied with running my restaurant and getting settled in my new town...buying a house....adopting a dog. Because of that, I have been remiss in taking the time to thank those who make it possible for me to live this life I lead.
So allow me a moment please...to thank those who have served this country...who have defended my liberties... past, present and future.
This is truly the greatest country in the world. I am truly blessed to be a citizen of the United States. But this country isn't great because of the politicians, conservative or liberal.. or the corporations, big or small. No, this country is great because of the brave men and women who volunteer to defend it. Without them... we are nothing.
So here is a thank you to you USMC Steve...and Col Hunt (miss you babe)... and Mike... and Jeremy... and Charlie ... and my cousin, Rob... and Large Bill (aka Devil Dawg)... and my brother Billy...and Danny.... and Chuck (the babe's babe)... and the Fighting Aces (happy they are all home safe and sound)... and all the wonderful men and women I met at Walter Reed on my visits...and to all who serve...
Thank you.
Lisa
BTW... all who read this... Go over and wish Charlie well and a safe return... he is about to be deployed.

Well said!
I pray,
Oh, Please God, let them know somehow, let them feel somehow, how much we love them. They don't ask for much, but they do ask for some things...like for us to proudly live our lives, for us to vote in our elections, for us to open our small businesses and work hard for our families, for us to celebrate our Holidays, raise up our kids best we can, allow all points of view, debate all we can to get to the truth and all the other things that make our lives American and that we have because of them. Let us do all those wonderful things in their honor and in thanks for our Freedom. And, please let us remember to say Thank-you and extend our hand whenever we see one of them.

Doesn't Kerry deserve the same response as those serving today?
Did he put his life on the line to defend our liberties?
Isn't Kerry a War Hero?
Posted by: HC | Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at 09:36 PM
Yes HC... Kerry served his country... I just including him in "all those who serve".. along with President Bush. ;o)

Lisa
At least one rightie thanks Kerry, but do you think Kerry put his butt on the line a little more than bush?
Posted by: HC | Thursday, July 20, 2006 at 02:41 AM
There is a significant difference between service and honorable service. Kerry betrayed everything the military stood for when he lied before congress about atrocities he didn't witness, organized the fraudulent "winter soldier" nonsense, and when he gave aid and comfort to the enemy as a STILL SERVING COMMISSIONED officer. He rates no respect for turning his two faced back on those he served with. Just as Madman Murtha rates none for his foolish pronouncements of summary guilt based on incidents he knew nothing about. Since both men were commissioned officers in the US military, both should have known better. They stepped on the rest of us for the sake of their POLITICAL CAREERS. Fuck both of them for the scum they are.
Kerry may be your hero, but he sure as hell is nothing to me since he has repeatedly proven he doesn't give a rat's ass about anyone but himself.

One other thing HC, and I think my other military comrades will agree with this. It is not a matter of the degree with which you serve, it is whether or not you DID serve, and if you did so faithfully. Someone dishonorably discharged is not worthy of respect from those of us who did our duty, whatever it was, as we were told to do so. So, no, Kerry doesn't rate brownie points because he served "more" or "better" than Bush. If you knew anything about the F102 fighter, you would know that flying that thing was fairly dangerous in and of itself. But that wouldn't really matter to you, would it, really?

My only question USMC is who put their butt more on the line Kerry or bush?
Believe me Kerry is no Hero of mine and I really do not care who is your hero, because that is not the question at hand.
I do realize there is difference of Volunteering to serve for Swift Boat Duty and having Daddy getting me in the Air National Guard so I can bravely serve inside the States.
In my mind Political Disagreements do not take away from your Service to our Country. Senator John McCain is one I can not stand politically, but his service during the Vietnam War is a debt this country can never repay.

HC is the one who turned this from a discussion of amazing and "hot lookin' in their uniforms" guys to a Kerry discusssion. From dreams to nightmares! Thanks alot!
Posted by: Chris Sears | Friday, July 21, 2006 at 12:18 AM
Amen Searsie.... We need to get back to the looking hot in a uniform discussion... ;o)
Posted by: Lisa | Friday, July 21, 2006 at 03:31 PM
HC, I don't like McCain either, and he is a former Naval Aviator and officer. As a rule, I regard them as comrades in arms. But I think he got one too many knocks in the grape in Hua Loa prison, and he is the last person who should be holding access to nukes in my opinion. He has some serious anger issues. With Kerry, I didn't judge him till he got caught in some lies, and I believe his actions once he got back here were disgraceful. No matter which hero we discuss, if they show their asses and betray all they served for, then they would rate the scorn I give Kerry. He was a political opportunist, and regardless of any of his other shortcomings, he turned his back on the people who fought and in some cases bled and died for what they believed in. That is pretty low.
As to the Guard business versus swift boat duty, given the very minor nature of Kerry's "wounds", it doesn't appear that he was in all that much danger in the first place.
