I'm Back...
As you know, my computers were down, which left Lisa in charge of everything yesterday. Well, the computers are fixed and I'm back. Lisa took advantage of my absence to write about Ann Coulter...most commonly known around here as Queen of the Lizard People.
I thought today, I would have my say...:o) Seriously, if you want to know what I think of Ann Coulter you can go here, here or here...I want to talk about another part of the controversy.
Michelle Malkin says about this whole uproar:
Unfortunately, lost in all the hype and hyperbole on both sides is the central point about the absolute moral authority the MSM confers on victims they agree with--while victims whose politics they do not share can't get the time of day. Ann told Sean Hannity today she hopes her comments will demolish the "liberal infallibility" the MSM confers on its faves. Ironically, IMO, the facade has already eroded considerably--thanks to new media, talk radio, Fox News, etc.
Update: To those who commented, Sorry guys, I hadn't finished. You might want to take it all back now...:0)
Where are the comments about the spouses of those who agree with Bush's policies? The woman whose husband said, "Let's Roll." I've seen her on TV more than I've seen these other women.
I hate it when I almost agree with Ms. Coulter, but as I've said before, even a blind hog finds an acorn every now and then.
Some of the families of 9/11, in many ways, have become professional victims.
I do not mean to imply that they are "enjoying" their tragedy (only Ms. Coulter could come up with something like that) but, and I don't think anyone can argue, they haven't moved on.
"The families of 9/11" are entitled to their politics as is everyone but maybe the media--all of the media including wind bag Sean Hannity--should stop asking them to come be on TV. 9/11 belongs to everyone and it should have changed the way we all see the world. It drives me nuts that "the families" have held up rebuilding at the World Trade Center site. It drives me nuts that they think they have final approval over everything from memorials to movies to political decisions
America was attacked and it happened to all of us.
Long ago we should have started building something there that would say "Screw You" to the guys who did it. There should be businesses there. It should be, at least, the symbol it once was. Right now, it is a symbol of political correctness and bureaucratic red tape.
We paid these families millions of dollars--both federally funded and privately raised and when you read about many of these families, they have squandered the money, gambled or thrown it away and now can't provide for their children. The families of our military don't receive one tenth what these people did and they carry on. They stand strong and contribute to the strength of our country.
The United States, in order to be what we once were, to be as strong as I know we can be, needs to move on. Remember? Yes. Learn from it? Yes. But it is time to get on with it.
Of course, only Ann Coulter could say it the way she did. Only she could be so hateful as to sell books on the backs of other people's tragedy while insulting them. I bet her shrink needs therapy.
She had better hope the world is "Godless." Cuz if we aren't, hell is holding a seat for her.
Chris
As an aside, the only hope we have is that earthlings will rise up and triumph over the Lizard people before Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity mate and the eggs hatch...if that happens, all will be lost. :o)

Chris I missed you. Welcome Back!!!

Olbermann: Honestly, if you were Ann Coulter's attorney at a sanity hearing where could you possibly start? Our #2 story on the Countdown, eclipsing even Bill O'Reilly and Malmedy, the Connecticut Screech has continued her assault on 9/11 widows. After calling them "witches who acted as if the terrorist attacks happened only to them" she has now told Reuters news that they are, quote, "professional victims." All as part of the promotion of a book in which she claims *liberals* are, quote, "godless."
[Today Show interview tape] see Lisa's post.
Let's return to *this* planet. To recap Coulter's argument: The wives of those who died in the worst attack in this nation's history enjoyed their husband's deaths and profited off them, they have politicized 9/11, their positions as widows immunize them from any criticism or debate over their opinions. All of this stated by a commentator much of whose income in the last four and a half years has derived from *her* speeches and writings about the deaths of those same men on 9/11. All this stated by a commentator who has staunchly, repeatedly, and enthusiastically defended an administration that began to politicize 9/11 within a month of the nightmare and has never paused for a moment since. All of this stated by a commentator who has called those who have criticized her and her party "un-American" and now, "godless." All of this stated by a commentator who is bitching that these 9/11 widows can't be criticized while she is writing a book and going on TV and venomously criticizing them.
[Tucker Carlson interview tape, ending with Coulter saying, "these women got paid, they ought to take their money and shut up about it."]
The way Ann Coulter always does when she's criticized.
Ms. Coulter's walk on the swaying tightrope of her own emotional stability did not end there. In her book she also wrote, "And by the way, how do we know their husbands weren't planning to divorce these harpies? Now that their shelf life is dwindling, they'd better hurry up and appear in Playboy..."
Appearing in Playboy and getting divorced -- neither of those being scenarios that Ann Coulter is ever going to have to deal with in *her* life.
Five of the most politically active 9/11 widows, including Kristen Breitweiser and Lorie Van Auken, have responded in a written statement:
"There was no happiness in telling our children that their fathers were never coming home again. We adored these men and miss them every day."
And lastly, back to my allusion about having to defend Ann Coulter in a sanity hearing, that was inappropriate -- because it was insufficient. Imagine, in fact, defending her on Judgment Day -- and trying to find her soul.

Chris!!!!!
Bravo! Bravissimo!!
Your post..A 'tour DE Force!'

Steve(Not-of-the-USMC?)
First off. It pisses me off when you 'Righties' refer to the party as 'The Democrat party'. (Some smart ass back in the Newt Gingrich days came up with that b*llsh*t).
people who belong to the party, or otherwise agree with the party agenda are 'Democrat(s).
The party is named: The Democratic Party.
I challenge every Democrat, especially elected ones to ignore the 'Democrat' Party label and remain silent when it is used.
it's some kind of game of semantics, but leaving the 'ic' off the name makes it sound kind of cheesy..That's why they do it.
You can't do the same thing with Republican now can you?

You and Coulter just love to drag out tired old dead horses and beat them although they are already dead.
Like making an issue out of Robert Byrd's former affiliation with the Ku Klux Klan, Blacks and Jews, who were the intended victims of the Klan's murderous activities, have forgiven the man, since this was long ago in his youth, and he has thoroughly repudiated his former affiliation decades ago. He since has been a champion of the rights of the common people. Give it a rest.
You dig this up, not because you give a damn about Ku Klux Klan activities, but simply because you want to make Democrats look hypocritical.
You and Coulter keep bring up Bithat Clinton, accusing him of everything that happens in the world today, even though he's been out of office for more than 5 years. Yet you can't seem to accept that the current president is responsible for a whole lot of bad sh*t going on now.
It makes you apoplectic to think that bill Clinton, (and Hillary, too), have twice the approval ratings than your 'Bush' (nukular-WMD-in-Iraq-nexus-to-9/11-$3.20 per gallon gas-jobs-going-overseas)-asshole does, and Clinton hasn't been near the White house in nearly 6 years.

ME: Sure you can...just call us the Republic Party. You know, the party that actually cares about the Republic.........

While I find Ann entertaining, mostly because she causes liberals to have strokes and froth at the mouth, and sometimes because she is spot on correct in their behavior, I think sometimes she is round the bend. I don't agree with her bashing the Jersey Girls about their losses, But I do agree with her assessment of their continuing to bash bush over the lack of progress in securing the borders and all that, which can be traced back to EVERY president over the last 30 years or so. But they choose only to hammer the guy in charge right now. I find that odd.

Oh, and Lee, the reason we refer to your pet party as democrat vice democratic is that they bear no resemblance to democratic in their ideals and function. In the current democrat party, you are a screaming leftist or you simply aren't democrat enough for them. They have made it clear that there is no room in their version of America for anyone not rabidly leftist and democrat. All the rest of us just have to shut up and go along like the mindless automatons that are their party elite and party faithful. THAT is what should piss you off, but it doesn't, which is why you are part of the problem, not part of the solution. And as long as the dems have klinton and Byrd and Kennedy and others of that ilk, we don't have to do shit to make them look hypocritical and foolish, they take care of that job in superb style.
BTW, slick willy has 0 approval rating idiot. He has no job. He isn't president any more. And other than the occasional well concealed rape he doesn't really have any effect on anyone's lives, nor does hillbillary, given that most of the democrat party finds her not sufficiently rabid to suit their leftist tastes. And Hillary has numbers almost as bad as Bush in New York right now.
Keep on swinging that hypocrit axe Lee. It makes for a sweeeet sound, hearing a lib dime on republicans for the shit dems are artists at pulling. You must hate it now that we call you for your stupidity when it pops up.

"ME: Sure you can...just call us the Republic Party. You know, the party that actually cares about the Republic"
No Matt doing the same thing to the Republican Party would be to call you the "Repub Party."
My feeling is you do not like the sound of that. Well we do not like the sound of Democrat Party, because it is Democratic Party. Please show us the same respect that you expect to be shown.

I'm glad Ann Coulter is getting this out in the open. It's like we were made to feel when we vehemently disagreed with Cindy Sheehan and the organizations using her. Well, we were just TERRIBLE people cause she had lost her son. (Many Moms had lost their sons but Cindy CHOSE to come into the political realm) Can't the left just come forth with their views to be debated instead of sending out a poor victim who is getting some kind of strange "something" from the notariety and hiding behind their(usually HER) skirts cause noone, supposedly, has the right to dispute that poor tragic person. I can see why Ann Coulter is sick of it! I am! So, she has the power and grit and is brave enough to cut through all that. So, finally someone has.

Hey HC, it has the "pub" in it, so it cannot be all bad. I personally like pubs.
But as you know, as long as no one is calling me a democrat I am fine with about anything else they call me.
