Democratic Senator Robert Byrd is going to vote in favor of the confirmation of Judge Sam Alito to the Supreme Court.
That brings the total number of Democrats supporting Alito to 3.

My Prediction: Any Democrat who votes for closure will never be President Of the United States.

Hopefully all three will be summarily dismissed from the party. Strip searches of children are NOT democratic values.

Dimmer, Give me a f------break! You are really that hollow and superficial? You never got any deeper into that case? Oh, wait, you are saying this just for a reaction, right? (I do that sometimes). I don't really know you well enough to know, but you must be!

Nah, Chris, I just think he's that shallow. Otherwise, he'd know that 2 of the 3 "crossovers" are up for re-election this year and he got his wish, the Republicans would be even closer to a filibuster proof Senate.

Chris Sears: "You never got any deeper into that case?"
We discussed that case here at some length, and as far as I could tell from reading it, Alito basically argued that the cops who carried out the search didn't know how to read a warrant, so it was okay for them to do what they did even though the court had refused to give them permission.
So, what does your deep understanding of the case tell you?

No deep understanding here. And I never saw the discussion here. Where was I ? Away doing life? (Don't know 'cause I pretty much check in here) I know "I" brought it up TWICE but never saw it in particular go anywhere here though it was something I felt quite upset about the way the questions were put to "Sam", as if HE had done the strip search and liked doing it. How did I miss the at length discussion here? In fact, both times that I brought it up were in reference to Ted and how incensed I was that he say "To ruin the life of a young girl!!" when many of us mourned over Mary-Jo.
I thought, at that time, bringing it up, "See, here it is again ! Noone will touch anything I say about Ted and the leaving of a woman to die. (I speak of it very freely but the whole room shuts up.)
Though I am not too "deep" - what I understood from the things I read, was that The question was whether the warrant was such that the police were reasonably understanding that every person on the property was to be searched. I actually got some input from police who explained how in drugs, many children are used to hide (in body orifices) the drugs.
In this event, a woman officer did this search on the girl and when the case hit the court it was ruled that the officers were in the position of reasonable understanding of the warrant and what it covered.
I aint deep! Just right out there on the surface and trying to learn as much as I can. It was not just the case itself that bothered me. It was the way it was spoken of to this judge. The questions (or shall I say the "speeches" of the Senators!) had a real seedy, dirty sound to them. And from Kennedy!! Ya just gotta be upset!
