If you bill something as an informal Q&A, then you shouldn't rehearse it. Michelle Malkin is citing another military guy on this whole public relations fiasco. Personally, I like the take our Bud Akinoluna has on it.

Please stop trashing the troops, I know it's innate for democrats but it's not really that becoming.

While Akinokula is entitled to her opinion, I will overrule her and believe the two troops so far who were ACTUALLY THERE.
It is a long standing practice that any time troops are allowed to talk to VIP's that they be briefed on how they are supposed to behave, so no one gets caught picking their nose or sleeping on national TV. I have seen many of these things, and not once were any of the personnel involved ever told what to say, although they were told to think before they opened their soup coolers.
