I Demand An Apology...

During a conference at Howard University on October 14, Kamau Kambon, an author who taught Africana Studies at North Carolina State University between 2001 and June, 2005 made some statements that I find extremely offensive and I demand an apology...

"We have to exterminate white people off the face of the planet to solve this problem ...,"

Yup....he wants to kill me, my family, Chris and her family, The Colonel and his family...you and your family...as long as you're white.

Apparently we are what's wrong with the world...

"So we just have to just set up our own system and stop playing and get very serious and not be diverted from coming up with a solution to the problem, and the problem on the planet is white people."

In an interview over at Protein Wisdom, Kambon makes no bones about it...he want's us dead. 

Here's how the interview began...and believe me, it went downhill from there.

protein wisdom: “Let’s just jump right in, shall we?  In an October 14 panel presentation you gave at the ‘Black Media Forum on Image of Black Americans in Mainstream Media’ at Howard University (which aired on CSPAN), you said -- and I’m quoting here—‘We have to exterminate white people off the face of the planet.’ My question is, did you mean that, like, literally, or...-- ?”

Kambon: “-- Literally, yes.  Wipe ‘em all out.”

protein wisdom: “Like, in ovens and such...?”

Kambon: “Well, the method is immaterial, frankly—though Whitey’s sheer volume would probably make the use of ovens, at least until the initial extermination procedure is carried out and the herd is thinned considerably, rather impractical.  I’m no expert on these kinds of things, mind you, but if I had to speculate, I should think something more covert is necessary, like, oh, I don’t know --”

protein wisdom: “—Poisoning Country Kitchen buffets, bombing professional hockey venues, things like that --?”

Kambon: “-- Exactly, yes.  Places where Whitey gathers and engages in sinister Whitey activities.”

protein wisdom: “Like plotting to kill all the blacks.”

Kambon: “Like plotting to kill all the blacks, right.  Which, I should note, many people who are commenting on this controversy seem to forget was the basis for my remarks—this systematic plan Whitey has to kill the black man.”

OK...Mr. Kambon...allow me to enlighten you here...

First....I don't eat at Country Kitchen buffet (whatever that is) and the only thing I am plotting when I am out eating dinner is whether I should have cheesecake or carrot cake for dessert.  You, my dear sir, are the last thing on my mind.

Kambon's statements are pure hate speech and I demand a public apology.  And while demanding my apology, I ask the Rev. Al Sharpten to step up to the plate and demand an apology on my behalf.  Did he not demand an apology from Bill Bennet and Trent Lott....well I want the same done for me. 

You see, I witnessed Rev. Sharpten state on the O'Reilly Factor that he would stand up for a white person in the same way he would stand up for a black person if they were faced with an incident such as this. 

Well Reverend, I'm taking you up on your offer.  I would like to see the Reverend appear back on the O'Reilly Factor demanding an apology from Kambon on behalf of me and my fellow white citizens.

Racism is racism, folks.....hate speech is hate speech...doesn't matter who's saying it.

Chris's comment about using slurs giving the racial argument credence is crap, plain and simple. What gave the racist argument all the credence it needed was this BLACK RACIST ASSHOLE calmly and publicly insisting on the wiping out of all WHITES. I don't now and have never bought into that "poor blacks have been soooo oppressed in America" lie. Go to ANY country in Africa, and look around you. I have. I really don't care what opinion you or any other liberal democrat, or for that matter, anyone, hold on pretty much anything. They don't bother me. Opinions don't kill people. Action on those opinions do though. But opinions aren't what we are talking about here. This "person" is advocating the same kind of bullshit that a world war and countless other peacekeeping operations were needed to stop or prevent. He advocates GENOCIDE. People like me don't teach your liberal children anything. If we did they would not be liberals in the making. And when I call people bad words it is because they have earned it through their ignorant crappy actions. If they have a set of balls and a spine, they can do something about it. They rarely do though, because this type of person is invariably a coward, no different from the terrorists my brothers in arms are wiping out.

What really bothers Chris about me and those like me is that I am very simple in my beliefs and actions. Right is right, and wrong is wrong. If someone gets in my face and screws with me, they will be told once to back down. If they don't, I will hurt them BADLY.

What I have said is factual, based on personal observations. You don't have to like it, but this kumbaya bullshit won't fly anymore. Co-existence requires effort and cooperation from all sides, and it ain't gonna happen as long as the giveaway party is around to steal from the earners and hand out free "keep you down" money and other "something for nothing" handouts milked from those of us who have a purpose in life. Those black people who work hard, respect others, and actually do something useful for society are my brothers and sisters, but this scumbag is as much a threat to them as to us white folk he hates so much. They stand to lose more than anyone if they let him run his mouth about "killing whitey".

That being said....being that this is your first comment, let me enlighten you..you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground. USMC Steve has been reading here and commenting since the beginning of this blog. Whether he's conservative or not, he's articulate and knows a great deal about the military and politics. Having read his comments since May, I know what he is capable of and the comments on this particular post do not reflect his usual mindset.

And make no mistake, Steve's comments do not embarrass me... they just don't add anything to the debate.

Frankly, elemental, I find your argument that the reason there isn't outrage from the black community is because nobody ever heard of Kambon rather weak. You may have some compassion or respect for Steve based on his previous posts, but the posts I read of his, here and now, are dripping with a violent hatred that is very deep seated. And knowledge of the military and politics does not make someone intelligent. I know how to do my job too, but that alone doesn't make me intelligent. Someone who calls for public beatings obviously is missing a vital component of intelligent thought. And I stand by my feelings regarding the general attitude of the right about his posts. Continuing to support him despite his lunacy is no better than someone on the left sticking up for the lunacy of Kambon.

I will accept your response about Al and Jesse not knowing about this as sort of weak but honestly, please, please tell me why minorities always have to apologize for the actions of other completely unrelated people who share their skin color or religion? You do the same with Muslims, always demanding they apologize for terrorism, and worse is that when they do apologize, you either ignore it or discount it. The fact that you see all members of a minority as some mass amalgamation who are responsible for the actions of everyone else in their group and not individuals is even further proof of your latent bigotry. Steve didn't call for a public beating, Rita did. And I believe she was joking. So a 'conservative' can't make light of or joke about an issue but a 'liberal' can? What of the violence and blatant antisemitism at the 'peace' rallies last year? Yes, I know such rhetorical questions are ridiculous, but as an Australian reading a lot of comments on American political forums, this is often what it boils down to. "You're a bigot!" "You're a hypocrite!" etc etc

Unfortunately your own comments regarding seeing all members of 'a minority' (or in this case, anyone whom you consider to be a 'conservative') as some mass amalgation who are responsible for the actions of everyone else in their group and not individuals' wind up making you appear just as bigoted. I mean really, after re-reading your first comment, you don't actually address the issue, you just refer to 'the rest of you' (conservative right) as 'hypocrites as usual'. In a nutshell I do believe you've just accused roughly 50% of the country of being outright racists, and implied that the other 50% are NOT racists. I'd like to think we both know that this simply isn't the case.

I think part of the reason I consider myself more 'right' than 'left' is because when I DO have a differing point of view I don't get kicked, banned, shouted down or generally abused by those around me so much as what I've witnessed from those of the supposedly more 'tolerant' section of political society. And even as I say that, there are plenty of people out there to the left of me whom I respect and listen to *without* dismissing them right off the bat, even though their politcal stance techincally makes them more 'associable' to those from, say, the 'Democratic' Underground. It's disappointing that political discourse (in the States especially) appears to revolve around taking one of two 'sides' and then doing everything to discredit the other side instead of actually discussing the issue.

Would I be looking for an apology, or at least some sort of condemnation, from 'black people' due to Kambon's comments? I probably would, actually. He was speaking at a public event that was dealing with issues concerning 'black people' (or at least 'racial issues'), if I read this properly. He mightn't have been considered to have been speaking 'on behalf of' black people, but there is a disturbing complicity in silence, especially from those within the black community who DO consider themselves to speak 'on behalf of' them. Just as I expect law enforcement authorities to continue squeezing the life out of illegal, racist, 'white' organisations
and individuals, I don't see why the same expectation should not apply to other racist groups

I must admit I am yet to see anyone within the Muslim community in Australia condemn terrorist attacks that are carried out supposedly 'in the name of Islam'. I'd be most interested if you could post some URLs of any Muslim leaders or communities doing anything of the sort, if that is the case. I'm not even looking for an apology, but if someone was to attack someone/something and using *me* or something that *I* believe in as the reason behind it, you can rest assured I'd be pretty quick to point out that there is NO way he/she/they are doing it 'on my behalf'. Initially I thought 'fair enough, why should Muslims feel compelled to do something about it if they don't consider themselves to have anything to do with it'. The problem though, is the feeling that whenever a government body attempts to do something of an 'anti-terror' nature, it is often the Muslim community that is the first to start rolling out the 'racist' wagon. I believe a "gee, I wonder why that happens?" statement is needed here. The Government appears far more capable, at least in Australia, of taking care of white racism problems than racism from other ethnic groups. Not suprisingly, this is probably because these groups can't fall back on the 'racism' card. If other communities (based on race or religion, which I personally find disturbing enough as it is) insist on segregating themselves from other parts of society, then the minimum expectation from society is that their form of self-regulation is adequate. All that being said, I'd just like to see a greater effort amongst the Muslim community to keep their youngsters minds away from the extremist ideologies, mainly though better education. But all this Muslim stuff isn't even relevant to the current discussion anyway, really. And writing a paragraph on the issue doesn't really do justice to the enormity of my own opinions on the issue, let alone the issue itself.

To be honest, and to some people this will invalidate all of which I have said above, I don't find Steve's comments 'racist'. Rather they are blunt messages of frustration from someone who appears to have 'been there, seen that', and is sick of it. I think a lot of what he is saying is of a hyperbolic nature, just like there are plenty of people out there who would state they'd like to see Britney Spears shot for making such bad music. It gets the point across, in a rather extreme way. I'm going to assume that he often makes his points in an extreme fashion, but despite this, bear in mind that Steve was probably reacting to the bogus 'interview' where we have Mr Kambon making even more absurd statements than he already had. I think the interview fooled a lot of people simply because, after seeing what he said in real life, the interview probably didn't seem that hard to believe.

I could waffle on for a lot longer, but this is enough crap for one little comment, hmm? Basically if people are going to continue commenting on this, it'd be nice if we got back to commenting on the original topic instead of letting it degenerate into another 'right-wing whackjobs! liberal pussies!' argument.

BTW, I'm not sure about Australia, but here the police do not squeeze the life out of racist groups because racist groups are not illegal. And concerning your assertion that I think 50% of the country is racist, that is not correct. What I believe is that many conservatives foster a latent racism that is expressed by their acceptance and coddling of people like Steve. I can assure you that when it comes to sites on the left, any person making hateful, violent comments like Steve did on this site would not be tolerated. This pattern of bigotry is repeated throughout the right wing blogosphere at places like LGF and its many imitators where commenters routinely call for the mass extermination of Muslims and the nuking of Mecca. Not only do other conservatives (including the RNC blog) freely link to these people, they glorify them.

Anyhow, you're right about Rita calling for the public beatings, sorry, but Steve is still disturbing in his rhetoric and again, my original post was just an expression of my experiences in that I believe and have ample proof to support the thinking that many people feel exactly as Steve does and are just too polite or scared to say it. I can tell you from 10 yrs of bartending that under its pretty surface, racism is alive and well in this country. I know this because it's amazing the disgusting shit people will let out to their bartender after a few drinks when they think nobody else is listening (or there are no other minorities around).
