The Supreme Court Nominee...
I don't know this guy, but from everything I have read he is qualified.
I spent some time over on MyDD.com--a progressive website and it seems that they are torn. They know that fighting this guy brands our party once again as the party of abortion. Some think we should still go after this guy.
I think they are wrong. President Bush gets his guy. Let him have him. There are other battles we can win. This is not one of them.
If Roe is overturned and handed back to the states--so be it. I think abortion should be legal, but I'm not afraid to make that argument at the state level. In fact, I am more comfortable with it. It will force politicians to take a stand on it. No more will people be allowed to side step the issue.
If you want to read more Michelle Malkin has her thing up and a pretty extensive list of links.

No one knows Roberts' views on abortion except that he noted there is no place in the Constitution that allows the government to interfere in the rights of women.
Abortion will never become illegal in this country. It is an economic issue now, so it is safe.
I would have gone to Michelle's, but her myriad links drive me nuts. Just nuts. She writes well enough and smart enough to give a precis of the matters at hand without making us link all over the world to show she has support for her views. I trust her to give it straight.
I think I'm in a bad mood today. ugh..... :)

Regardless of what Mr. Roberts' view on any subject might happen to be, there is one sure measure of his fitness to serve.
The louder the donks bray about him, in their well-rehearsed cacophonic style, the better the man he is certain to be. Turn on the screamie-meemie-meter and keep track, please. :-)

I don't think the Democrats will be able to oppose this man. George Bush is a smart man and has been making this decision for many years. The man he has chosen is the epitome of integrity and intelligence and a person who, if opposed, will make the opposition look really bad! It is not the days of Bork, when all of America might be able to be tricked as to what's goin'on. It is the days of 24 hour news and blogs. Chuck Schumer made a fool of himself the last time he met up with this man (who is so far above Chuck in class and smarts and patriotism in his duty to the Constitution) He (Chuck S.) is starting already to look disgusting and America is not stupid, much to the Democrat's dismay. We can take care of ourselves and actually have the brains to decide for ourselves!

Chris S. I agree! I have great faith in the American people. I think we're going through a period where the divisive manifestations of each party are wearing us down and putting us into bad moods, but one unjust action or one insult to the nation as a whole, and we all join together and manage to harness the collective brain power that is of the people and by the people, and we can make things happen. I am glad you pointed that out.
