Support from a Pizzeria...
I went over to Michelle Malkin's to see what was going on in the world and came across her article on Aage Bjeere, a Danish businessman who owns a pizzeria and was charged and convicted of discrimination for refusing to serve French and German citizens. Aage is a great supporter of the United States and had this to say:
"I'm doing it to show my sympathy with the United States. It shows how seriously I mean it," he told The Associated Press by telephone. "But one should also remember that eight days is a small price to pay when American soldiers go to Iraq and risk their limbs and lives."
Go here for the full story.
Aage has a website and I wanted to see not only what he had to say, but I wanted to read what others had to say about him. What I found was quite disturbing. Of course, Aage has received numerous supportive remarks from U.S. citizens, but, the comments from Europeans were not only rude, they were just down right nasty.
For example, Steph Prat wrote:
Have fun rotting in jail you silly brain-dead wanker. Judging by your picture, your cellmates being sexually attracted to you shouldn't be a problem...so I guess that's your silver lining.
By the way, the American right wingers are soooo hard up finding people to like them, you should really start hitting them up for money on your website. It's the "American Way".
After all, you'll be on the dole when you get out (where you belong, you crack businessman, you...
and Dave writes:
Finally, in your "Opinion's" page, you credit the fact that we are not all "speaking german" to the US. Maybe you should look a little closer to the history books!
It was the UK that did the majority of that good work, the US came over in the last few months to help, we would have won the war either way, mainly due to the poor choices of Hitler (i.e. he tried to fight too many wars at once). The *ONLY* thing that brought the war to such a swift close was the atom bomb, and many of those who worked on developing it were european.
I am not proud of a world that can develop such great technology, yet use it to kill millions of innocent people, where were the leaders of the US at that time held accountable for Hiroshima or Nagasaki - That was terrorism in its worst form.
Dave (UK)
I think ole' Dave needs to get a new history book.
Then there was Maximilian von ThronStahl:
GO LIVING IN YOUR 'BELOVED' usa, YOU FUCKING WEAK MORON.
SO YOU COULD BEG AND GROVEL AT THE FEET OF YOUR JEWISH AND SAUDI SEMITIC MASTERS.
WE HAVE NO USE FOR SPINELESS SCUM AS YOU IN EUROPA.
Maximilian von ThronStahl.
There were more but I think you get the picture. Jealousy has reared its ugly head. The European community is simply jealous of the advances that the United States has made in the short time it has existed.
So I'm going over to Aage's site and give a word or two of support to him....and a few words to Steph, Dave and ole' Max. Feel free to join me.
Lisa

They can be glad that Hitler is not around now. The entire continent would be duck soup for one Panzer division, from all appearances.

You're so right, Tanny. I wonder if PC has rewritten their history books as it has in our country. It disturbs me the way people attack so violently those who stand for something. This attitude that if you are not like me, you are worthy of the worst kind of invective is profane stuff. We see enough of it here. I think I'll go over to his site.

I went to his site and left a comment. I read through a string of comments, and while he had some smears - all from Europeans - the rest were wonderful letters of support from Americans. I loved it. Our country has some cool people in it, and hallelujah for the Internet that this man can hear from us.

Glad you went over there Phx. The French are bitching about him not serving them.... I was in Paris when I was 15 years old. When I boarded the Metro, an old man stood up and spit in my face. No lie. A nice American lady living in Paris stepped in and wisely stopped me from doing something stupid.
I will never set foot on French soil again. They hated us then....they hate us now.

"We don't serve your kind here."
That sounds familiar, somehow.

Mr. Hubert,
From whence does that phrase sound familiar?

Jurgen...
I went over to your blog...
Can you explain to me without sarcasm, why the Europeans hate us so much. Because frankly, I just don't get it. And it's not a new thing. Ya'll been hating us for decades.

Lisa,
Mr. Hubert makes a good point. US. That is, the U. S. when we refused to serve blacks. I didn't even think about that. He's very right.
I would like to know why Europeans hate us so much. I do know many of us are crass, demanding tourists. I've seen it with my own eyes and have been embarrassed to be an American a few times.

It's those crass and demanding tourists that spend the bucks and support their tourism economy.
Did you know that in France, if they take your coat in a restaurant, you have to pay to get it back...you pay to use the bathroom...those people suck the $$$ out of those crass tourists any way they can. Ha, I wore 2 coats and had to pay double.
I worked as a waitress during high school in a restaurant near Kings Dominion, an amusement park that attracted a lot of tourists from all over. I didn't care how crass they were as long as they tipped well.
