The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has made a practice of leaking information to the anti-American media when it suits their anti-American agenda. Just recently, an ICRC team leader at Camp Bucca, the largest American detention center in Iraq, referred to the soldiers as Nazi camp guards, specifically stating: "You people are no better than and no different than the Nazi concentration camp guards." This accusation was spawned by the military's refusal of access to the prisoners immediately after a prisoner riot. Now, any intelligent person would understand that this was for safety reasons.
What I find interesting about the article that prompted me to write this post is that the author of this piece had three confirmations to this incident. Plus, ICRC Geneva office confirmed that there was a "serious misunderstanding" between the team leader and military authorities. When ICRC was asked if those specific terms (Nazi) were used, they hid behind their "practice of confidentiality." In this case, it suited their agenda to cover up the actions of their representative who incidentally, left the Iraq assignment.
Now, I bring up all of the confirmations, because unlike Newsweek, this is responsible journalism. And speaking of Newsweek, after the big "toiletgate" story last week, the ICRC Washington office jumped in and shouted to the world that it had filed "multiple" reports with the Pentagon from detainees at Gitmo about Koran complaints. These offenses were found to be "minor" and "inadvertent."
So what happened to ICRC's confidentiality policy? Oohh... that's right, it behooved them to leak this information because it was anti-American. I guess their policy is one of flexibility. How convenient for them.
I don't know who funds this organization. I would bet that a great deal of their funding comes from us evil Americans. I wonder what would happen if we cut the purse strings. Let's give them a real reason to be anti-American.

As a footnote: The American Red Cross is a separate organization and is not affiliated with the International Committee of the Red Cross.

I'm glad you gave that statement at the end. The International Red Cross is one of the most anti-American organization in the world. I want everyone to know that they have no affiliation whatsover with the wonderful people at The Red Cross here at home.
Oh, and as soon as I see anyone quote the International Red Cross I don't bother reading the rest. Might as well quote Al Jazeera, actually Al Jazeera is probably less of a propogandist organization.

Lisa,
One always has to suspect the good intentions of others.
The IRC is much the same as the U.N.
'Oh, let's change the WORLD'!
'Let's make it the way WE want it'.
'WE' being a whole bunch of rich, and ever so guilty feeling assholes who NOW want to assuage their guilt at the exspense of those 'rich capitalist pigs'. They ARE by virtue of wanting to assuage their individual guilt ... willing to lay it off on US.
Pick a country. ANY country where this 'feeling' is extant.
That will be a country drowning in debt and taxed to the max.
And, I might add, a country unable to defend itself.
Fie on that, I say. To hell with that I say.
The only thing that stands between US and them is the will to persevere (sp) and our lack of resolve borne of our own inattention to educating our young.
Methinks we are on on a ledge.
In 20 years ... we MAY not be here.
We MAY have gone the way of ... Germany.
Or ... France.
Or ... Italy.
OR ... we can buck up and return to those values that made those slugs solvent and that made US great.
The values of which I speak are this ...
...when you are right ... you are right and make no apologies for that.
...when somebody is wrong ... spare nothing to point that out.
...in the event the two aforementioned possibilities don't work out ... FIGHT for the RIGHT to make them see the light.
But, that's just me.
I could be wrong.
I'm not.
And .......thanks for your input over at my house. Honey, it made me feel better and kicked my ass in gear. So there.

Steel,
You are welcome my friend... when we get up in the morning and are verticle.... it's a bonus day.
To your thoughts... I hope you are wrong about "may" not being here in 20 years. As screwed up as this country may seem to us at times, it's like a big family. We can beat up on each other all we want, but if someone from the outside beats up on a member of the family, we put all differences aside and band together to protect our own.
